SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The CEO and executive director of Chatham Area Transit (CAT) has resigned.

CAT says Faye DiMassimo will serve in the role until June 3, as she has accepted a newly created position with the city of Savannah.

DiMassimo has been at the helm of CAT since 2022.

“We appreciate Ms. DiMassimo’s work over the past two years and look forward to continuing to partner with the City of Savannah as we take CAT to even greater heights,” said Deidrick Cody, CAT’s board chairman, in a statement.

The board will discuss appointing an interim and launching a search to fill the position permanently in the coming days.

According to the city, DiMassimo has been appointed to the role of Chief of Planning and Economic Development.

“With over 40 years of experience in public and private sectors, she will soon navigate our city’s development through seven core departments,” officials posted on Facebook. “We’re confident in the progressive direction our city is heading, and we look forward to welcoming her to the organization, beginning Monday, June 17th.”
