Vote for the Savannah Morning News Athlete of the Week in an open poll

The state soccer playoffs kicked off last week and a number of Savannah athletes had big-time performances to help their teams advance to the second round.

Track and field is also in full swing as the postseason has started in some regions, while lacrosse and golf have postseason action on the horizon.

Here's a chance for readers to weigh in and select the Savannah Morning News Spring Sports Athlete of the Week in an open poll with no restrictions on the voting. The poll closes at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26.

Here are this week's candidates.

Holly Kachmar, Islands

The sophomore racked up five goals for the Sharks in an opening round playoff win over Baldwin.

Liam Hogan, Benedictine

The senior dished out three assists and scored a pair of goals for the Benedictine lacrosse team as the Cadets beat Savannah Country Day 14-7 to clinch the area title and a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

Amelia Reci, Savannah Arts

The sophomore had three goals and three assists for the Panther soccer team in a first-round playoff win over Central Macon. She has 46 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Braden Schnaible, Habersham School

The junior shot 75 to lead the Patriots to a team win at the Blue Devil Invitational at the Georgia Southern GC in Statesboro on Saturday.

Ella Stone, Savannah Country Day

The senior had a pair of goals and an assist for the Hornets in an opening round playoff win over Upson-Lee.

Edson Escobar, South Effingham

The senior dished out three assists and scored a goal for the Mustangs in their opening round win over Forest Park in the first round of the Class 6A soccer playoffs.

Jack Stephans, Islands

The junior netted a pair of goals for the Shark soccer team in a first round playoff win over Spalding.

Billy Johnson, Jenkins

The senior won the 110 meter hurdles (15.04) and the 300 meter hurdles (39.41) at the Region 1-5A meet in Hinesville.

Maleaha Pritchett, Richmond Hill

The freshman set a school record in the 400 meter hurdles as she finished with a time of 1:05.44.

Hart Tedder, Jenkins

The junior won the 3200 meters (10:07.30), was second in the 1600 meters (4:41.05) and third in the 800 (2:04.77) at the Region 1-5A meet in Hinesville.

Aaziah Scott, New Hampstead

The senior won the shot put (41-7) and the discus (143-4) at the SCCPSS Senior Night meet Friday at Savannah High Stadium.

Haely Grant, Johnson

The senior won the 400 meter race at the SCCPSS Senior Night meet Friday at Savannah High Stadium with a time of 58.92.

Chloe Adkins, Effingham County

The freshman won the 1600 meter and the 3200 meter races at the SCCPSS Senior Night meet Friday at Savannah High Stadium with times of 5:48.78 and 11:56.44.
