ASU Baseball named 2024 SIAC regular season champs
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany State Golden Rams baseball team clinched the 2024 SIAC regular season title this weekend with wins over conference opponent Savannah State. ASU holds a 30-10 record, 27-3 in the conference. The third loss coming in Savannah this weekend snapping their 22 game win streak. Regardless of the loss, the Golden Rams still secured the number one seed in the conference tournament that will take place at Albany State starting May 2nd and will run through May 5th.
At Richmond Hill, slow pitch softball is making a quick comeback
An idea a year in the making paid big dividends for Richmond Hill’s slow pitch softball team. Slow pitch softball? Yes, you read right. The school brought the long dormant program back to life this spring and last week it came within two runs of playing for a state championship. The Wildcats lost to Jefferson County, 12-10, in the double elimination tournament to finish 13-5. Creekview beat Jefferson for the title with Richmond Hill finishing third in the state.
