SARASOTA — Local law enforcement executed two simultaneous search warrants on Wednesday as part of an ongoing burglary and firearms theft investigation.

The search warrant effort was led by the Sarasota Police Department and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the North Port Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Such collaborative efforts amplify local law enforcement’s ability to resolve cases promptly and ensure the safety of our communities,” a Sarasota Police news release stated Wednesday.

According to the news release, both warrants were executed at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The warrants were linked to a residential burglary in Sarasota that saw multiple firearms reported stolen.

The warrants authorized law enforcement to search a residence in the 3300 block of Sarasota’s Eight Street and another residence located on the 2200 block of Sophie Springer Lane — just outside city limits.

No arrests were made as of Wednesday; however, detectives on-scene at both locations were in the process of interviewing people found in the residences.
