WCU's Zach Ketterman Named April’s SoCon Player of the Month
Cullowhee — (WLOS) Western Carolina University senior infielder Zach Ketterman was today named the Southern Conference’s Baseball Player of the Month for games played in April. Raising his seasonal batting average by nearly 100 points in the month, Ketterman collected two of the five weekly awards handed out by the league office in April – the only player to receive multiple honors.
Baseball Recap: Brevard wins going away against Hayesville
Brevard came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 14-8 margin over the Hayesville Yellowjackets. Brevard's win was all the more impressive since Hayesville was averaging only 4.06 runs allowed on the season.
Wake Forest Baseball defeats Western Carolina 9-2 in series opener
Chase Burns pitched six no-hit innings as Wake Forest Baseball handled Western Carolina 9-2 Saturday evening at a damp David F. Couch Ballpark. "Chase Burns obviously and Slim Johnson today were really good, and we needed them to be," Wake Forest coach Tom Walter said. "Our bats weren't great today, obviously we had three solo home runs in the first inning. But overall, I was disappointed in our at bats today."
