Two Santa Clarita Teams Remain In Boy’s Volleyball Playoffs

Five Santa Clarita teams started their volleyball playoff journey last week, but now two teams remain.

Only Valencia and West Ranch, both of which emerged from the Foothill League , remain in the competition.

Both teams are playing in the Division 4 playoff bracket and if they can each win their quarter- and semi-final games, they could face off in the championship.

This season, the teams’ two meetings ended with the Vikings taking the victory. Seeing a trilogy with a championship on the line can be the motivation the Wildcats need to finally take down the Vikings this season. Or it may hurt their mindset knowing they have yet to beat Valencia.

To get answers to those questions, both teams must win a couple of games to get to that point.

After sweeping the North Saxons in their last game, West Ranch now turns its attention to Paraclete, who has been a competitive team this season.

The Spirits (26-7-2) are coming off a regular season that ended with them being crowned the Del Rey League Champions.

On a more significant note, they have already defeated West Ranch this season in February.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats have a chance to right a wrong when they host Paraclete at 6 p.m.

This year’s Foothill League Champion Valencia faces an identical situation as they face a team they lost to earlier in the season.

Quartz Hill (24-12) is a battle-tested team on a seven-game win streak and to take them down, the Vikings will have to minimize errors.

In their last meeting, Valencia had a combined 69 errors, ranging from errors in attack, serving, block, digs, ball handling and reception.

At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the Vikings can show how much they’ve improved by beating Quartz Hill.
