A 15-year-old boy drowned in southern Minnesota this weekend.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office says deputies learned the drowning happened off the beach at Mound Creek County Park in Sanborn, Minnesota, just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

A teenager from Mountain Lake, Minnesota, was swimming and began to struggle before he went under the water and didn't resurface.

Multiple agencies assisted in recovering the boy from the lake.

After receiving medical aid at the scene, the boy was pronounced dead at about 5:38 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

The teen's identity and official cause of death will be released at a later date by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

    The drowning remains under investigation.
