San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan sported what looked like a brand new San Jose Sharks uniform and told fans about his excitement for Macklin Celebrini.

While it isn't official that Celebrini will be a member of the Sharks come draft day in June, the former Jr. Sharks player is expected to return to the area where he grew up playing.

It also helps that Sharks GM Mike Grier basically confirmed that he will use the No. 1 pick on Celebrini.

Winning the 2024 Draft Lottery yesterday has sparked a renewed sense of hope throughout the Sharks fan base. Excitement has its peak after a dreadful season, giving fans a feeling that all the losing was for something special.

"It's a big day for the organization. It was a tough year for the fans, the team, the players, and the organization," Grier said yesterday. "This is almost like a nice prize for what we went through this year."

San Jose's 19 wins and struggles were well-documented. Adding Macklin Celebrini does not put them back into playoff contention, but he brings a bright future closer.
