Comedian Jo Koy announces new tour date in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Jo Koy is coming back to the Bay Area — a place where he has received the keys to one city. Two years ago, Daly City declared July 22 as “Jo Koy Day” and gave the Filipino-American comedian the keys to the city.

This fall, Koy is coming back to San Francisco for a stop on his newly announced tour “Jo Koy: Just Being Koy.” The show will be on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Chase Center .

The Bay Area seems to get excited for Koy as he sold out both of his Chase Center shows in 2020 , primarily thanks to the large Filipino community in the region. Koy’s show at the same venue in 2022 also sold out .

Koy has starred in multiple Netflix comedy specials dating back to 2017, with the most recent one, “Live from the LA Forum,” that was released in 2022. He also starred in the 2022 film “Easter Sunday.”

Tickets go on sale at noon on Thursday, May 9; pre-sale will begin on Tuesday, May 7 at noon. Tickets can be purchased by going to Koy’s official website .

It was not the best start of the year for Koy. He gained notoriety after hosting the Golden Globes in January , which was not received well by the public.

Perhaps this tour could bring him back to what he does well: stand-up comedy.

"I never take for granted that I get to live out my dream on the stage every week and this new tour is something special that I can't what to share with everyone," Koy said in a press release.
