Cease shoves against Snakes

The Padres defeated the Diamondbacks 7-1 on Friday night, thanks to a dominant outing from Dylan Cease and plenty of offense from the Friars' bats. Cease allowed just 1 run over 6.2 innings while walking none and striking out eight. The Padres hit early and often, tallying 11 hits including three long balls. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jake Cronenworth went back-to-back in the 4th inning, and Jackson Merrill knocked in another run with an RBI-double in the same inning for good measure to put the Padres up 4-0 against Slade Ciccone. The Padres scored 3 more runs in the 5th inning on an RBI-single from Tatis and a 2-run blast from Manny Machado, and the rout was on. All of this on a night where the team reportedly traded for two-time batting champion Luis Arraez made it a night to remember.
