UPDATE: The Padres have announced their acquisition of Marlins 2B Luis Arraez. The club will receive cash considerations from Miami as part of the trade that sent Dylan Head, Woo-Suk Go, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee to the Marlins.

According to multiple reports, the Padres are on the verge of trading for Marlins 2B Luis Arraez in exchange for Dylan Head, Woo-Suk Go, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee. Head was the Padres' 1st round pick, #25 overall, in the 2023 MLB Draft. Passan notes that the trade is currently in medical review but expected to be completed soon.

Entering Friday, Arraez was slashing .299/.347/.372 with 22 runs scored and 5 RBIs. Arraez is one hear removed from hitting .354 in the 2023 season and is a two-time batting champion. Arraez has a salary of $10.6 million in 2024 and has one year of arbitration remaining before becoming a free agent following the 2025 season.
