BASIC Bar and Pizza Relocating After 2024 Baseball Season

After serving the East Village of Downtown San Diego for 18 years, BASIC Bar & Pizza is preparing to relocate to the nearby Park 12 Development at 100 Park Plz .

Owner Jon Mangini has operated the well-known pizza joint from 410 Tenth Avenue since 2006, but by the time the next baseball season starts, the concept will be found on the other side of Petco Park, according to San Diego Magazine . The building’s landlord decided not to renew his lease, and Mangini knew he wanted to stay in the area. As a result, he will relocate Basic Bar & Pizza to a nearly 5,000 square feet space and feature the same menu and team members.

What will be different is the look of the restaurant, especially with the help of Avent Design , which was constructed by CLTVT , who also helped the URBN Group design its URBN location at One Paseo. Rather than sticking with the previous theme of industrial brick, the new Basic Bar & Pizza will have a bit more concrete and steel.

Mangini tells SD Magazine that he plans to reopen the new Park 12 Development in the fall at the end of the 2024 baseball season . While it’s hard to pinpoint an exact date due to many factors, the restaurant will likely open before the end of the year. Until then, Basic Bar & Pizza will remain at its current location until the end of this year’s Padres season due to a sublease agreement with Park 12.

“As long as the Padres are playing, we’re going to be staying,” Mangini tells SD Magazine. “We’re rooting for the Padres to go all the way so we can stay as long as we possibly can.”
