SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Ever wish you could spend more time in the evening at the San Diego Zoo? We have good news — the zoo is once again extending its hours for the summer!

During its annual Nighttime Zoo from May 25 to Sept. 2, guests can explore all of the different areas and wildlife until 9 p.m. daily.

Did you know you can sleep over at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park?

Starting at 4 p.m., the after-dark event will also feature live music, entertainment and an array of activities meant for the entire family to enjoy. A new addition this year is “Bounce-a-Roo Bonanza,” a 15-minute trampoline and acrobatic show of animal-themed performers located behind Sydney’s Grill in the Urban Jungle.

You can also catch one of the Amazing Acrobats of Tanzania shows on the Africa Rocks Stage, listen to acapella performances by The Explorers at the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp Stage or join Dr. Zoolittle for an interactive presentation about conservation efforts.

Just before the zoo closes at the end of the night, grab a good spot along Front Street for a celebration of Africa’s savannas featuring an array of wildlife puppets, dancers and acrobats in the 15-minute performance, “Jambo Dunia!” It is scheduled every night at 8:30 p.m.

The San Diego Zoo is located at 2920 Zoo Drive and will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting May 25.

No entertainment is scheduled for Saturday, June 15 or Thursday, Aug. 22. Check the San Diego Zoo website for more details.
