After more than two years of delays, the owners of Shorebird Restaurant are getting ready to finally open a location in Seaport Village at 849 West Harbor Drive.

Previously, What Now San Diego reported on WildThyme Restaurant Group announcing plans to bring the Newport-based restaurant to San Diego for the first time, but a clear timeline was never established. Now, the restaurant will sit in over 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor patio space, with seating for 120 guests and an upstairs dining room and bar with 360-degree views, according to San Diego Magazine . Shorebird Restaurant is now on track to open in late 2024 .

When the restaurant opens later this year, customers can expect an “upbeat coastal eatery” with a “modern, breezy, beach design, designed by Spectrum Space Design , according to owner and chairman Heinrich Stasiuk . The menu will be designed by Director of Culinary Development Jay Bogsinske and Executive Chef Bert Bonnarens . Together, they will create a menu that focuses on seafood and wood-fired options, offering a variety of fish and meat such as smoked Duroc pork chops, swordfish tacos, salmon mignon, Chilean sea bass, and more. Shorebird will also have a brunch menu. This will be the company’s fourth location, following Newport Beach, Sedona, and Palm Desert.

“Shorebird takes great pride in crafting experiences that exceed the expectations of our guests from all over the world,” according to the company’s website. “With chef-driven recipes, made from scratch daily, we only have the freshest seafood and the highest quality ingredients in all of our dishes. To complement our food, our beverage program combines refreshing mixology, an array of distinctive wines, and a roster of rotating beers on tap. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, we strive to provide our customers with an unforgettable culinary experience.”
