17 San Antonio restaurants on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"
Here in the Alamo City, we have a diverse food scene — yes, we are more than just tacos. So much so that the King of Flavortown himself, Guy Fieri, has made frequent stops in the Alamo City to try out our favorite eats + treats and featured them on his Food Network show, “ Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives .”
Note: Some restaurants have closed since their airing on The Food Network and are not featured on this list.
Whether you’re going to lunch, brunch, or dinner, owner Lisa Avestas has dishes including Latin-Spiced Lamb Burgers, Fish Tacos, and Mushroom Quesadillas.
With no reason to change its menu since 1938, this family-owned diner is serving up dishes like the Texas-sized Chicken Fried Steak and made-fresh-daily pies.
Chef Andrew Samia makes a mean Burnt End Melt that includes hickory smoked prime angus brisket, mac + cheese, sliced pear, and cheddar cheese — City Editor Adriana loves this sandwich.
Husband and wife duo, Chef Gustavo Plache and Norah Saleh, are churning out their signature Argentinian empanadas filled with all kinds of savory and sweet ingredients.
Lead by Jean Francois Poujol and Chef Joshua Ybarra, this restaurant is inspired by the elements of French with a Mexican dish twist, giving it that San Antonio flair. Try this: Brioche French Toast.
Teacher turned chef, owner Iris Ornelas opened this restaurant to celebrate her Puerto Rican heritage. Try this : Caribbean Nachos made with crispy fried plantains topped with roast pork, beans, cheese, and chili sauce.
Some of the best New Orleans cuisine you can get outside of The Big Easy which is created by US Air Force veteran, owner + chef Alice Martinez “Ma Harper.” Try this: The Gumbo or the Fried Pork Chop.
Drive 20 miles east to Adkins, TX for some of the best barbecue Texas has to offer at this spot owned by Tony Talanco. Try this: The brisket with your favorite sides.
