Thunderstorms in the Forecast for Parts of West Texas
SAN ANGELO, Texas – A warm and dry day is in store for the Concho Valley with their possibility of thunderstorms north of the area Wednesday night. As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected to bubble up along the dryline in the eastern Permian Basin and South Plains, potentially spreading eastward into the Big Country and northern Concho Valley by evening. These storms carry the potential for severity, with conditions ripe for hail up to 2 inches in diameter and winds reaching speeds of up to 70 mph. Learn More Here.

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Equestrian enthusiasts and locals alike are gearing up for the annual Polo on the Concho event, set to take place at the historic Fort Concho Parade Ground.

Skies were clear and the weather was calm on Friday, but that will likely change on Saturday. By Saturday morning, the Gulf of Mexico moisture supply will have returned to the Concho Valley, and there could even be showers or thunderstorms in the area early Saturday morning, though the best chance is up toward Abilene. While an isolated shower or two is possible during the day Saturday, it’s Saturday night when forecast data suggest a line of severe storms will form somewhere near San Angelo or at least in the Concho Valley somewhere between 8pm and 11pm Saturday night. Large hail, damaging wind and even isolated tornadoes will all be possible. The storms should move east and out of the area by sunrise Sunday morning, leaving behind a nice weather day on Sunday. Temperatures this weekend are forecast to be in the upper 80’s Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows in the middle 50’s Saturday night and Sunday night.
‘What We Do Is Amazing’ Goodfellow AFB Shows Kids What Deployment Is All About
SAN ANGELO, TX — Goodfellow Air Force Base hosted Operation KIDS (Kids Investigating Deployment Services), a free event designed to familiarize children with military operations and the experiences of deployed service members. It happened on Saturday, April 27. The event drew over 120 participants, ages 5 to 13, from San Angelo and as far away as Abilene. School Liason Program Manager at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Kristin Donaldson, discussed the deployment simulation. Learn More Here.

Forecast data continues to indicate development of storms in the central Concho Valley overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. While an isolated storm or two is possible between 6 and 10 pm, there appears to be a better chance for storms to develop between midnight and 3:00 am. Some storms may turn severe and produce large hail and damaging wind. An isolated tornado is also possible. The chance for storms drops considerably on Friday, but storms are likely to return on Saturday, mainly Saturday evening into Saturday night and carrying through Sunday morning. Storms Saturday night may also be severe with hail, wind and isolated tornadoes. Have a way to receive weather warnings as we enter a very active period of weather tonight through the weekend.

Duel of 2 F-250s Leads to Fatal Crash
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas DPS is investigating a crash on FM 2105 at the Oil Field Drive intersection. The location is one intersection east of the Grape Creek Road intersection when many crashes have occurred over the years.

Pressure pave project in downtown San Angelo starts April 30
SAN ANGELO, Texas — Drivers in downtown San Angelo may experience detours next week, beginning Tuesday, April 30, as a pressure pave project is completed. A release from Downtown San Angelo, Inc., says pressure pave will be applied on each one-block coming off of Chadbourne Street, as well as the length of Irving and Oakes streets from the river to College Avenue.
