SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — Head out to Mathis Field Airport to purchase a ticket to ride in a vintage airplane built by Ford Motors in 1929.

The Tin Goose will be taking seven to eight passengers up at a time on Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21. The Ford Tri-Motor with a nose and two-wing engines was one of the first planes developed for commercial aviation.

“I think primary, one of the primary reasons is that it really brought commercial aviation to the masses in sort of a smallish way and was the first reliable sort of profit-making airplane introduced into passenger service back in 1929,” said pilot Steve

Tickets are $99 for adults and can be purchased at a booth operated by the Experimental Aircraft Association inside the main terminal at Mathis Field Airport.
