Wildlife officials to vote on 2024 bird hunting season dates, bag limits

SALINA ( KSNT ) – Kansas state wildlife commissioners are due to meet in Salina later this month to discuss the latest issues with fish and game species.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks ( KDWP ) announced in a press release that commissioners will hold a hybrid meeting in central Kansas. This is free and open for all to attend.

KDWP spokeswoman Nadia Marji says the commissioners will hold a vote on the 2024-2025 waterfowl season dates, bag and possession limits. They’ll also receive new information on Legislative activity, hear summaries on work to restrain invasive carp in the Kansas River and more.

Tom Bidrowski, KDWP migratory game bird specialist, says waterfowl and game bird regulations are set each year and there will be no big changes compared to last year. The KDWP works closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ( FWS ) to set migratory game bird hunting seasons each year.

    • Carcass movement regulation

The meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, April 25 at the K-State Salina Campus in the College Center Conference Room at 2310 Centennial Road. People can attend in person or online by registering over Zoom or watching live on YouTube .
