Flooding could continue in north central West Virginia Friday

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — After some Salem residents had to evacuate due to flooding Friday, and several school districts canceled school , the National Weather Service (NWS) still has parts of north central West Virginia under a flood warning until Friday afternoon and evening.

The NWS said in a flood statement Friday morning that Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Ritchie, Marion, Monongalia and Preston counties could see flooding persist through Friday afternoon or evening.

How to stay safe before, during and after a flood

Specific areas that the NWS said are at risk of flooding include:

  • The Little Kanawha River in Glenville
  • Portions of the West Fork River
  • Glenville, Shinnston, Salem, Lumberport, Enterprise, Harrisville, Pennsboro, West Union, Ellenboro and Cairo
  • North Bend State Park
