This coming weekend, Sarahi Welton, who has become known locally not only for her community service but as Mrs. Estacada, will compete for the title of Mrs. Oregon at the Elsinore Theatre in Salem.

From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, Welton and many others representing communities around the state will don their best glam and go head-to-head for the crown. The Mrs. Oregon contest is part of the America Strong Pageant.

“I’m looking forward to representing Estacada, highlighting the unwavering community support that defines our town,” said Welton, who has lived in Estacada for seven years. “I'm eager to expand my platform, raising awareness for survivors of domestic violence and the crucial work of my nonprofit dance team, The Dirt Darlins’ Together, we'll dance toward healing, empowerment and a brighter future for all.”

Welton was named Mrs. Estacada by Oregon Pageants Inc. last year after applying initially in 2023. The competition was postponed by COVID-19.

She’s made several appearances as Mrs. Estacada in the past several months, including at Estacada events like National Night Out on Aug. 1, 2023.

“It’s outside of my comfort zone,” Welton admitted. “I don’t like to put myself in front. But this is not your typical pageant. A lot of it is based on your community service and how you support community events.”

With this platform, Welton has also promoted her dance and service group, The Dirt Darlins’. The inclusive group founded in 2020 not only competes in dance but works to aid survivors of domestic violence.

Between the pageant and her Dirt Darlins’, Welton said she’s “showing the two sides of herself.”

“Dirt Darlins’ doesn’t really match up well with pageants,” Welton joked. “But I found when running for mayor (in 2022) that you need to know what your values are, your priorities are inside and out and who you are. And I want to represent the true me.”

There is still time to get a ticket if you’d like to attend the pageant. Tickets are available online at tinyurl.com/52fmbjab. You can use code MRSESTACADA for a discount ticket at checkout.

If you’d like to vote for Welton in the pageant’s People’s Choice Awards, you can do so online at oregonpageants.com/localdelegates/p/sarahi-welton-mrs-estacada.
