    Activity: Southern MN School of Music Summer Group Music Lessons

    Location: St. Peter High School, band or choir room

    Dates: Dates and times vary, depending on instrument/class

    Cost: $200

    Description: Group music lessons for beginners of all ages! Intro to: Cello, Guitar, Mandolin, Piano, Music Note Reading, and Violin. See the SMSOM listing on the registration site for dates and times for each class.

    Activity: Crayon-Tinted Embroidery – Adult class

    Location: St. Peter Community Center, Room 215 (main level)

    Dates: Wednesday, Jun. 12, 6-8:30 p.m.

    Cost: $18, includes towel

    Description: Color tinted embroidery is a great way to spruce up a project and add a little color without all the work of filler stitches. We’ll be decorating a flour sack towel. Pre-drawn designs will be available to choose from, and crayons will be available to color your design. You may bring embroidery floss, needle and small scissors to start the embroidery if time allows.

    Activity: Beginning/Gentle Hatha Yoga – Adult class

    Location: St. Peter Yoga & Dance Studio, 112 Grace St.

    Dates: Wednesdays, June 26-July 31; Aug. 7-21, 6-7 p.m.

    Cost: June-July session, $50; August session, $25

    Description: Strengthen your body and calm your mind with yoga! This class suits beginners of all fitness levels and teaches the health benefits of the basic yoga poses. This class is ideal for you if you are new to yoga or have been away and need a refresher.

    Activity: 55+ Driver’s Safety, In-person 4-hour refresher course

    Location: St. Peter Community Center, Room 217

    Dates: Thursday, Jun. 27, 1-5 p.m.

    Cost: $28 per person

    Description: According to Minnesota state law, people aged 55 and older who complete a state-approved defensive driving course are eligible to receive a 10 percent, three-year discount on auto insurance. After completing the course, you will receive a certificate of completion to give to your insurance company. Register by calling 507-934-3048 ext. 7002.

    Activity: Donuts for Days Kids’ Cooking Class

    Location: St. Peter Community Center, Room 219 (main level)

    Dates: Monday, Jul. 8, 2-3 p.m.

    Cost: $32

    Description: For ages 6-16. Join Holistic Nutritionist, Jackie Mart, for this delicious hands-on class! We will be preparing two different healthier versions of donuts your kids will be sure to devour. All supplies are included. On the Menu: Apple Fruit Donuts, Snickerdoodle Donut Holes.

    Activity: Flamenco Dance for Beginners – Adult class

    Dates: Mondays, July 8-Aug. 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

    Cost: $108

    Description: This class is for students new to the art of flamenco dance, music, and culture. You will establish a foundation in movement, rhythms (compas), and hand clapping (palmas). No partner, special shoes, or equipment is required to begin. Wear comfortable clothing, and a skirt if desired.

    Activity: Five Powerful Techniques to Embrace Positive Thinking

    Location: St. Peter Community Center, Room 102 (lower level)

    Dates: Wednesdays, July 10-Aug. 28 (time varies by age group; see Community Ed website for details)

    Description: Positive Thinking is about facing life’s obstacle course with flair. By engaging in enjoyable and interactive group discussions, you will gain a deep understanding of the detrimental consequences of negative self-talk. You will acquire effective techniques to reshape your thoughts with positivity, thereby boosting your self-confidence to new heights.

    Activity: sPARK Creativity Mobile Art Studio

    Location: Thursdays: Hikmah, 4 p.m. Fridays: Gorman Park, 9 a.m.; Marway Mobile Home Park 10:30 a.m.; Summit Park, 12:30 p.m.; Park Row Townhomes, 2 p.m.; Green Valley Mobile Home Park, 3:30 p.m.

    Dates: Jul. 11-26; Aug. 1-9

    Cost: Free

    Description: Children ages 3-12 are welcome to participate in this free summer art program offered at community locations that include city parks, mobile home parks, and apartment complex playgrounds. The program is supported through a grant from Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council.

    Activity: Tech Academy – 3D Printing: Harry Potter

    Location: St. Peter High School, Community Room A141

    Dates: Friday, July 12, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

    Cost: $100

    Description: For students who have completed grades 1-5. Learn 3D design and modeling skills using TinkerCAD while creating a wand and magical pendant. Student-designed pendants will be printed and sent home. Printing and materials fees are included. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home.

    Activity: Chemistry is Fun – Slime, Colors, and Explosions

    Location: Gustavus Adolphus College, Nobel Hall, Rm. 2326

    Dates: Tuesday-Thursday, July 16-18, 2-3 p.m.

    Cost: $47

    Description: For students who have completed grades 4-6. Learn all about chemistry at this fun, interactive three-day workshop. You’ll be a scientist performing different chemistry experiments involving polymers, chromatography, and chemical reactions. We’ll make slime, separate the colors of a marker, and see some things explode.
