Marine from St. Charles dies in training accident
A local marine died while on a training mission in North Carolina last week. The Marines say Sgt. Colin Arslanbas of St. Charles was killed in an accident on Thursday while assigned to the Maritime Special Purpose Force at Camp Lejeune.
Elgin man pleads guilty to murdering wife in front of young children
ELGIN, Ill. - A suburban man pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and leaving her body with their two young children in 2021 in Elgin. Victor Ayllon, 38, entered a guilty plea for first-degree murder Thursday in Kane County court. Ayllon allegedly strangled his wife to death on July 12, 2021, at their home in the 300 block of Heine Avenue.

A man from Elgin has been sentenced to prison, after being convicted of taking part in an illegal gun-buying scheme. AG Kwame Raoul says in May 2019, 28-year-old Tommy Murphy of Elgin gave 26-year-old Kimani Mobley money to buy a firearm.
