    Man sentenced for DUI crash that killed mother, daughter in Kanawha County

    KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A man who law enforcement said admitted to using Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC before a deadly crash was sentenced on Tuesday, according to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

    Andrew Wyrick, of Culloden, pleaded guilty on March 18 to two counts of DUI causing death. The prosecuting attorney’s office said he was sentenced to a maximum of 30 years behind bars. He must serve six years before he becomes eligible for parole and will receive credit for time served, the prosecutor’s office says.

    Wyrick will also be required to pay $6,000 in fines, according to the prosecutor’s office.

    On Oct. 26, 2022 , a crash happened on Route 60 at Winfield Road in St. Albans. The crash killed a mother and a daughter: Dotty Hayes, 73, and Sherri McLanahan, 53, both of Hurricane.

    At the time, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said Wyrick admitted to using Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC before the crash.
