Permits were filed to convert an existing convenience store at 2346 Florin Road to a restaurant. The project is a continuation of an application filed three years ago, which was again filed last year. The incoming restaurant, according to city records, appears to be the San Francisco-based Grand Hot Pot Lounge .

The new application requests a change-of-use permit and installs a new hood. It inherits revisions from the previous application, including revised seating and kitchen layouts, electrical plans, and mechanical plans. The project appears to have been in development since early 2023, and the owners tried to move forward with an expired permit around last December. Another application filed around the time also indicated a change of signage from Grand Lounge to Grand Hot Pot.

The restaurant has changed contractors who lead the construction since the permit expiration, which caused some major delays. The current contractor is Sacramento-based PC Construction LLC . Currently, the project is awaiting new permits.

The address was previously a Florin Dollar Express located inside Florin Square Shopping Centre . According to the application, Satwant Verma owns the property. Verma also owns Punjab International, another convenience store down the street. It is unclear if Verma will be involved in the upcoming restaurant’s operations. Calls made to key contacts for the projects were unanswered.
