Sutter Health goal: Train 5,000 students by 2030 for healthcare careers
Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health is rolling out a new initiative with a goal to train 5,000 students by 2030 to get them on the healthcare career pathway. The initiative, NextGen Scholars, will work with high school students from diverse and Title 1 school backgrounds. The health system is also investing $1.7 million into Folsom (Calif.) Lake College as a pilot for the program and plans to expand the program to schools across the Los Rios Community College District in Folsom and in other Central Coast and Northern California areas, according to a June 6 news release shared with Becker's.
UC system sues UAW over strike in sympathy with pro-Palestine protests
(The Center Square) - The University of California system filed a lawsuit against the 48,000 member union striking at six of its campuses in response to administrations’ actions over pro-Palestine protests. The lawsuit alleges the United Auto Workers, which represents graduate students and researchers in the UC system — the third largest employer in California — is in breach of contract. Arts in education: Rancho Cordova nonprofit hosts fundraiser for K-12 supplies
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — An nonprofit, visual arts group is looking to raise money for teacher and K-12 student art supplies in Rancho Cordova. Rancho Cordova Arts (RCA) hosts its “Micro Masterpieces: Small Art for a Big Cause” fundraiser from 8 a.m. Monday through 3 p.m. Saturday. It is an online auction, and each of the 500 pieces submitted are available for viewing and bidding HERE.
