Roxbury Red Lobster Closes Leaving Seafood Lovers Casting for Alternatives

ROXBURY, NJ – The Red Lobster restaurant in Roxbury has closed, and an auction company is currently trying to sell items in the shuttered establishment.

According to reports, the Roxbury Red Lobster, situated in The Shops at Ledgewood Commons, is one of more than 50 restaurants in the chain shuttered as the long-struggling company fights bankruptcy.

The 4-day online “surplus restaurant equipment” auction, which started Monday, is being run by RestaurantEquipment.bid .

“These auctions are WINNER TAKES ALL – meaning, each winner will receive the ENTIRE contents of the Red Lobster location they bid on,” says the website. “Auctions are live and will end periodically on Thursday, May 16.”

The company further explained that, in the internet auction, “all items are sold as is, where is,” and noted that winning bidders “are responsible for the appropriate removal and loading of their items. No one on site can assist with disconnect, removal, or loading items.”

The closure of the Ledgewood Red Lobster comes on the heels of the sale of the Ledgewood Commons mall to new owners. The 448,000-square-foot “retail hub” was purchased for $83 million by Urban Edge Properties.
