Police tells News10 the first report of vandalism came to them on April 22. The person who reported it to police believed the vandalism began a few weeks earlier. Police have no suspects and no motive.

The vandals knocked over dozens of headstones. Some were anchored to a concrete base with rebar. At least one headstone was cracked in half. There was also an American flag placed next to one damaged headstone. Flags are placed to honor veterans who are buried there.

The Jewish Memorial Park is split up into several sections. Each section belongs to a local congregation. Most of the damaged headstones were in the section used by Temple Agudat Achim in Niskayuna. News10 reached out to the synagogue for comment but has not heard back.
