Port Charlotte drug dealer receives 12-year prison sentence
FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Port Charlotte man was sentenced on Friday to 12 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. According to the State Attorney's Office, 58-year-old John Alton Knight, Jr. was arrested by Charlotte County deputies on August 9, 2022, after he was found with over 2,700 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 49 grams of fentanyl.
Planned Punta Gorda hotel, pub, brewery faces construction delay
Construction of a new hotel, pub and brewery in downtown Punta Gorda could be delayed due to a city code violation of its land. Kevin Doyle, owner of Celtic Ray Public House Irish pub in downtown Punta Gorda, and his partner, S4 Global Investments, were found in violation of the city’s exposed soils code. Doyle and S4 Global own three adjoining lots used for overflow parking for Celtic Ray and for events at Laishley Park.

SUNCOAST, Fla. (WWSB) - Venice and Sarasota Police Departments hosted a drive thru Prescription Drug Takeback event. Citizens were able to responsibly dispose unwanted or expired prescription medications. This event will allow the community to prevent pill abuse and theft by getting rid of the unwanted medications.
