Georgia man pleads guilty to shooting cats with a crossbow

Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters received a call from residents that they saw a cat roaming the streets. While they weren’t sure what had injured the cat, they knew there was either an arrow or a dart through the feline’s skull. Upon trapping the feline, the rescue made the unfortunate discovery that the cat was attacked with a crossbow.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta , the animal shelter took five days to trap the kitty. They finally caught him in Roswell, Georgia. Once they had the feline, they quickly sprung into action because a crossbow bolt was stuck in his skull. Furkids’ director of programs for cats, Diviya Roney, exclaimed, “I cannot tell you how heartbreaking that was. It was heartbreaking for our staff, it was traumatizing.”

The shelter has named the kitty Patrick. Moreover, he has survived and safely made it through his rehabilitation . Patrick has not only made a full recovery but is also ready for adoption . After the traumatic incident, the cat needs a loving forever home that serves as his “safe haven,” as per Roney.

On May 20, the man responsible for this horrifying incident pleaded guilty. The culprit has been identified as Elvis Fistik. He is facing charges of aggravated animal cruelty. The worst part is Patrick wasn’t the only victim, as Fistik also attacked and killed another cat. Roney testified against Elvis Fistik on Monday, and he was sentenced to two years in prison.

Diviya Roney noted that Patrick is a lucky cat because he recovered fully and had no special needs after the incident. He can independently eat, drink, and use his litterbox, so anyone who adopts him won’t have any issues.
