Liberal’s softball team allowed nine runs in the first inning on the way to a run rule loss in their 6A regional Thursday afternoon in Topeka. Washburn Rural topped Liberal 14-4 in five innings. LOUISBURG – Jack Anderson highlighted a five-run fourth inning with a two-run homer as Louisburg defeated Wamego in the Class 4A regional championship game. The Louisburg Wildcats extended the lead to 9-1 in the fourth inning and went on to take the title 10-3, punching their ticket to state for the first time since 2009. Louisburg advanced to the program's first state championship in 1999.
