Farmers Market to return to one day a week next summer
Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page Send by Email. The Farmers Market committee made the decision this week to return to one market a week next summer after trying two markets a week this summer. Traditionally, the market has been held on Thursdays either on Adrian Street or in Chi-Bro Park. This year, the market committee added a second market in Wurster Park on Sundays. That market proved more popular than the Thursday market and the committee has decided to hold only a Sunday market in Wurster Park next year. What time the market will start and end hasn’t been decided yet.

August 2026 Ann Arbor Home Sales
Livingston’s own blueprint: Local architect James Livingston designed dozens of projects including Lawton Elementary School and Weber’s (known back in Livingston’s day as Weber’s Motor Inn). In 1958, he designed 1821 Sheridan Dr. as his own residence. The 5-bedroom, 4-bath house, which sold for $1.25 million, has exposed beams and fir paneling, along with a sunken living room and a two-story foyer. Longtime owners Robert and Martha Ause carefully preserved the mid-century modern home, even keeping the pendant lights and the purple St. Charles kitchen cabinets, earning them a 2023 Ann Arbor Historic District Commission preservation award.

Detroit scrutinizes developers seeking tax breaks
Detroit is taking a closer look at who's behind development projects before approving tax breaks, Axios has learned. Council member Angela Whitfield Calloway plans to introduce a resolution Tuesday or next week. Why it matters: Tax breaks mean cities collect less money to encourage development, so it's crucial how they decide who gets them. Driving the news: City law and economic development officials drafted the new screening process over the past month, according to a confidential Sept. 9 memo provided to Axios. The new policy went into effect Sept. 14. In applying for tax breaks through the Detroit Economic Growth Corp., the applicants, key owners and personnel will be subject to criminal and civil background checks covering the previous five years concerning business integrity, per the memo from corporation counsel Conrad Mallett Jr. State of play: Calloway urged Detroit to create a screening process for companies seeking city incentives. At a July council meeting, she questioned a proposed tax break for developer Landy Land LLC after learning of Landy Land's registered agent , Adam Kessler, facing an unrelated civil fraud judgment — which he's appealing . Calloway also pointed to a separate issue — the city's demolition-dirt controversy — as
