Scores, schedule for IHSAA softball sectionals across the Lafayette area
LAFAYETTE — The IHSAA high school softball postseason opens this week with 28 Lafayette area teams competing for their right to win a state championship. Here's a look at how the brackets shaped up across Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A. The list below will be updated throughout the week with results so fans can keep track of all the sectional action in one place. Host sites are listed in bold at the top of each bracket.
Softball Recap: Twin Lakes comes up short despite Morgan Rodziewicz's strong performance
Twin Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Twin Lakes of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Baseball Game Preview: Center Grove Plays at Home
Center Grove is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while McCutcheon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Center Grove Trojans will take on the McCutcheon Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Center Grove: 3.4, McCutcheon: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Saidian, Utterback, and Miller qualify for Regional
After the girls track and field sectional took place on Tuesday, it was time for the boys to get their post-season underway. Crawfordsville and North Montgomery competed at West Lafayette while Southmont made the trip to Plainfield. Southmont competed against some of the best teams in the state in the likes of Zionsville, Avon, and Brownsburg. The Mounties, while they weren’t able to advance anyone out, did have some good showings. Vince Reimondo ran a PR in the 800 with a time of 1:56.18 and placed fifth, their 4x400 team of Nolan Boyer, Kyler McCandless, Tyler Petroski and Reimondo placed seventh with a 3:38.29, and the Mountie 4x800 team of Mason Cass, Sam Crum, Hunter Gray, and Reimondo placed fifth with a time of 8:41.89. Both Marlin Williams and Petroski cleared 13 feet in the pole vault to as Williams placed fourth and Petroski fifth.
