LPD Testing New Crisis Negotiation Equipment
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Police Department is testing anew piece of equipment they received from the hero fund. LPD used their hero fund grant money to purchase a high tech throw phone called the Brinc Ball. It allows for communication between police and perpetrator without the person inside having to interact with the device. Lafayette Police Lieutenant, Dan Long, said they used to use traditional throw phones to communicate with people inside, but half of the time they wouldn't answer.
