2 Cleveland residents, 3 firefighters rescued from high water currents
At around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, Cleveland Fire Department responded to a call for a water rescue on Low Bridge Water Crossing Road. The call was related to two men, one of whom was elderly, whose vehicle was swept to a nearby tree line as they attempted to cross the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. Luckily, a nearby good Samaritan was able to tie the vehicle to a utility pole while the men waited for help to arrive.
Flood victims urged caution upon returning home
As East Texas residents return to clean up their homes and businesses after extensive flooding earlier this month, the Texas Department of State Health Services urged residents and business owners to exercise caution. Among the recommendations: · Never use gasoline-powered generators or charcoal grills indoors. Keep them outside, at least 20 feet from homes to avoid possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Direct generator engine exhaust away from windows and doors · Never mix bleach with products that contain ammonia. Cops find meth, weed, and a baby in an Onalaska business
A man was arrested in Polk County on Thursday after law enforcement says they found him with methamphetamine, marijuana, and a baby in an Onalaska business. Polk County Today is reporting that it began with Onalaska Police investigating a theft case, which led them to an unnamed business on Highway 190. Police say within the living quarters of the business they found the drugs and the baby along with 29-year-old Tyler Ray Yarbrough.
