High schoolers invited to audition for Shining Star CLE
The eighth annual Shining Star CLE 2024 singing competition, spearheaded by the Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland, is now accepting auditions. Scheduled for Sept. 22 at Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland, the solo singing competition is for teens from 10 Northeast Ohio counties who compete for college scholarships – Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties – and includes home-schooled students. Participants will have the chance to compete for $18,500 in college scholarships and perform at Playhouse Square. Judges, who are music professionals, then choose the top four winners. The live audience will also be a part of the voting process, according to a news release.
