    Sophomore Jordan Dimke leads Hononegah's charge to state track meet

    HUNTLEY, Ill. — It was a busy Wednesday for sophomore Jordan Dimke, who qualified for the IHSA Class 3A State Track and Field Championships in two individual events and two relays at the Huntley Sectional.

    Dimke ran a leg of the Indians’ first-place 4x400-meter relay. She teamed with Sophia Hedges, Lauren Frake and Kylie Simpson to finish in 4:01.47. She also teamed with Simpson, Frake and Allyson Niedfeldt to finish third in the 4x800 relay in 9:38.81.

    Dimke finished runnerup in the 300 hurdles (PR 46.60 seconds) and the high jump (1.67 meters, 5-foot-5.75 inches).

    The Indians picked up a pair of other second-place finishes qualifying for state. Senior Amelia Bronnimann was second in the pole vault (2.97 meters, 9-9). Hedges was second in the long jump (PR 5.53 meters, 18-1.75) with teammate Kali Schleis also qualified for state, finishing third (PR 5.43 meters, 17-9.75).

    Simpson finished fourth in the 800 in 2:21.42. Niedfeldt was sixth in the 1600 (5:27.24) and Frake was sixth in the 400 (1:02.28).

    Hononegah, which was second in the NIC-10, finished third in the team standings with 66 points, trailing only Huntley (148) and NIC-10 champion Rockford Guilford (77).

    Hampshire was fourth with 63.5 points, followed by McHenry (63), DeKalb (56.5), Cary-Grove (42), Crystal Lake South (37), Rockford Auburn (34), Algonquin Jacobs (31), Belvidere (24), Dundee-Crown (24), Harlem (17), Crystal Lake Central (190), Belvidere North (5) and Rockford Jefferson (4).
