Corpus Christi's fall equinox will feel far from fall
The first day of fall is around the corner — but with blazing sun and heavy humidity, temperatures will feel far from cold fronts, changing leaves or pumpkin spice-inspired consumables in Corpus Christi. The first “official” day of fall, known as the fall equinox, is Sept. 22. It’s one of “two times of the year when the Earth's axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a ‘nearly’ equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes,” according to the National Weather Service’s website. “At the equator, the sun is directly overhead at noon on these two equinoxes,” it states. “The ‘nearly’ equal hours of day and night is due to refraction of sunlight or a bending of the light's rays that causes the sun to appear above the horizon when the actual position of the sun is below the horizon.” Corpus Christi news: Does your tap water have a funny smell or taste?
