Shelter in Place Alert at Connors Elementary as Individual at Neighboring Building Said to Have Made Threats
HOBOKEN, NJ - Connors Elementary School was ordered to shelter in place after someone at a nearby senior building was making threats and had a knife, according to a source. Marci Rubin, a spokesperson for the HPD, said the individual had barricaded himself into his apartment, forcing surrounding roads to be closed to vehicular traffic. No injuries were reported and there were no hostages," said Rubin. A heavy presence of first responders surrounded the area near Connors in Southwest Hoboken at around 2:30pm on Friday, with a Hudson County SWAT Team vehicle placed outside the school. Monroe Street between Second and Third Streets was closed off due to police activity. There were also Hudson County Police, Hoboken Police Department as well as Jersey City Medical Service and Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps vehicles in the area.
