ROCKINGHAM — A woman was reportedly found with drugs in her vehicle after a K-9 alerted during a traffic stop.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Community Impact Team stopped 32-year-old Jennifer Lynette Parker, of Rockingham, at the intersection of Mill Road and Hancock Street on Monday, April 29.

The reason for the stop is not given in a press release issued May 3.

RCSO’s K-9 Hunter reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Following a search, investigators reportedly found an unspecified quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl and marijuana.

Parker was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana. She also had an outstanding warrant for child support and common law robbery.

Parker was booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond on the drug charges and a $1,389 cash bond for child support. However, she did not appear in jail records Friday afternoon.

She is scheduled to appear in court May 16 on the robbery and drug charges, according to online court records. Parker also has a pending charge of driving with a revoked license.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Parker was first convicted in 2017 of misdemeanor larceny.

Two years later, Parker was convicted of a school attendance law violation, possessing stolen goods, misdemeanor larceny, and second-degree burglary.

Her probation on the burglary conviction was revoked in 2022 and she was incarcerated for three months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
