OBITUARY: Albert Junior Purvis

Albert Junior Purvis, 54, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his home.

Albert was born Oct. 2, 1969, in Richmond County, a son of Barbara Harden Purvis and the late James Francis Purvis.

He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1987, and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He had worked in maintenance in sheet metal construction, a rock quarry, chicken feed manufacturing and at Hood Packaging. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and listening to his dogs run.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Stutts Purvis; children, Adrian Purvis (Savanna), Jonathan Purvis (Shelby) and Hallie Purvis; grandchildren, Jaxson Purvis, Sophia Purvis, Eli Stewart, Charlotte Purvis, Chloe Purvis and Leon Stewart; mother, Barbara Purvis; and brothers, James “J.R.” Purvis and Joe Purvis.

Family and friends will gather at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 6 p.m. for a service celebrating Albert’s life. The family will greet friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379; or to Harmony Baptist Church, 143 Carroll Farm Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
