ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — With City Market, Screw City Block Party and live music, downtown is the place to be this weekend as summer 2024 kicks off.

City Market started on May 17th and lasts through September 27th this year. The Market reoccurs every Friday and features local growers and vendors who sell handmade products.

“It’s great. You see a lot of families hanging out, having a good time,” said Kenny and Brittney Saunders. “You see couples like us too, having a good time as well. It’s just nice to get out and about and see what the public is up to.”

“It’s nice and it’s very family-oriented,” said the Garr family.

The Scew City Block Party was also happening this Friday night. From 4-6 p.m., people enjoyed the festivities near the BMO Center.

Block Party goers had the chance to receive free T-shirts, go to local food trucks, drink beer and whiskey samples and more.

Owner of the Rockford Art Deli Jarrod Dennis was excited to have downtown so lively.

“So it’s fun seeing people out on the streets again, back down to shopping, staying out late, and obviously our store stays busy. So it’s just an exciting time of the year,” said Dennis.

Tomorrow, The Rockford Art Deli is holding a party for their shop dog, Pepper, for more information click here .
