ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Genaro Campos-Estrada, 26, for allegedly punching and kicking a woman around 50 times.

On May 7th, around 2:09 a.m., police responded to the 1400 block of 20th Street for a domestic battery call. The victim told police that they both had been drinking and he got mad and started to hit her.

The woman said she was punched about 30 times and kicked 20 times, according to court documents. The suspect knocked her down and used his feet to keep her down, according to authorities.

Campos-Estrada then broke the victim’s phone as she was trying to contact 911, police said.

The victim told officials she grabbed his phone, ran away and slipped. The suspect got on top of her, pulled her hair, dug his finger into her eye and continued to punch her when she got up, according to police.

Officials said the suspect briefly stopped, giving her time to run out of the residence. The victim was able to run to her neighbor and asked him to call 911, according to court documents.

Campos-Estrada is being charged with unlawful restraint, domestic battery and bodily harm, interfering with the report of domestic violence and criminal damage to property.
