Genesis reaches Medicare Advantage deals With Aetna, UnitedHealthcare

ZANESVILLE – Genesis HealthCare will remain in-network with Aetna Medicare Advantage and UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans through 2027, it announced Oct. 29. However, Medical Mutual of Ohio Medicare Advantage coverage will be out-of-network next year. The news comes a day after a new deal for CareSource Medicaid and Next Generation MyCare Ohio Plan members was also revealed. Nearly two months ago, Genesis revealed 9,000 disputed claims from the four providers had created millions of dollars in losses, which had threatened future contracts. More: Genesis says 9,000 denied claims could mean dropping four insurers' contracts Genesis said it would end contracts for Medicare Advantage plans under Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Medical Mutual of Ohio and Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans under CareSource on Jan. 1, unless new deals were reached. Emergency care will remain covered at in-network rates regardless of contract status, Genesis previously said. Genesis is also canceling remaining insurance information events, it noted. Ohio's PORTS-Pike data center raises pollution concerns | Opinion

The PORTS-Pike data center under construction in Piketon may be the largest in the world right now, but if it continues as planned, it will be an environmental and human health horror show. Powered by a 9.2 gigawatt methane gas plant, it will pollute the air, impair the health of millions of people and heat the planet faster at the beginning of an existential planet crisis. The Environmental Integrity Project reports the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus will release 53 million tons of greenhouse gas pollution annually – more than New York City. With it will come 3,221 tons of nitrogen oxides; 1,543 tons of volatile organic compounds; 844 tons of sulfur dioxide; 3,921 tons of carbon monoxide; and 2,843 tons of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5), too. Most concerning are particulate matter (PM) emissions from the plant. Thirty times smaller than a human hair, when PM 2.5 is breathed deep into lungs, it enters the bloodstream, triggering inflammation throughout the body. Significant scientific evidence links PM 2.5 with asthma, heart disease, stroke, cognitive decline, cancer and premature death. Genesis reaches deals with Aetna, CareSource after dispute over denied claims

ZANESVILLE – Genesis HealthCare System has reached new agreements with two health insurance providers, CareSource and Aetna. They come nearly two months after Genesis announced that 9,000 denied and disputed claims from four providers and millions of dollars in losses had weighed on future contracts. CareSource Medicaid, Next Generation MyCare Ohio Plan and Aetna Medicare Advantage members will now maintain in-network access to Genesis through 2027 under the new deals, according to a release from Genesis HealthCare System. Genesis previously said it would end contracts for Medicare Advantage plans under Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Medical Mutual of Ohio and Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans under CareSource on Jan. 1, unless new agreements were reached. Genesis anticipates releasing another announcement on the other insurance plans in the near future. Existing coverage for the remaining plans will remain unaffected through Dec. 31. Once upon a time, before the turn of the century, Ohio was a great state. If it still is, why are average workers falling behind? It is great for millionaires and billionaires but not the average worker. This state needs to help the working class.
