Moline Double Homicide: Police continue investigating, ask for public's assistance
MOLINE, Ill. — Moline police continue to investigate a double homicide that claimed the lives of two teenagers earlier this month. 17-year-old Giovanni Flores and 19-year-old Zachary Meincke, both of Moline, were shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 5 in the 1800 block of 31st Street. Police are working to gather evidence and identify suspects.

An Eldridge couple was in custody Friday after police allege they stole thousands from an older relative, court documents say. Miles Crafton, 34, faces felony charges of financial exploitation of an older individual – first offense, ongoing criminal conduct – unlawful activity, first-degree theft and money laundering – acquire property, and serious misdemeanor charges of possession of controlled substance – marijuana – second offense and unlawful possession of a prescription drug, court records show.
Moline Breakfast Optimist Club names its 2024 Top Cop
EAST MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline Breakfast Optimist Club is celebrating National Police Week by honoring local law enforcement. The club gave out its annual "Top Cop" award at a ceremony at the Fresh Kitchen in East Moline on Wednesday, May 15. After receiving nominations from the Moline Police Department, East Moline Police Department and the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office, club members whittled the list down to three contenders before finally naming the winner. The recognition ultimately went to Mike Mendoza, deputy sheriff at the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The former executive director of Freight House Farmers’ Market has entered a new plea agreement. Back in January, the ex-executive director of the Freight House Farmers’ Market, Lorraine R. Beaman, 61, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft, a class D felony. She was facing a felony charge after police said she embezzled more than $10,000, according to court documents. In May, court documents showed that Beaman entered into a new plea agreement.
