ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two people were charged Monday night after Rochester police said a city security guard was beaten with a baseball bat.

The guard told the people inside a parked vehicle at La Grange Park that the park was closing shortly before 8:30 p.m., according to investigators. When the guard threatened to ticket the people for refusing to leave, it was alleged that Patricio Siaca, 40, punched the victim with his fists while Omayra Hulsizer, 37, struck the guard with a bat.

The guard called 911 and followed the suspects in their vehicle until police pulled them over on Clifford Avenue. Hulsizer and Siaca were arrested, along with two juveniles.

Hulsizer was charged with second-degree assault and was released following arraignment Tuesday morning with a court date scheduled for next month. This, despite a bail request by the Monroe County DA’s Office.

“There’s just a lack of accountability, a general sense of lawlessness and that has to stop. And unfortunately we see things like what happened today…where someone is accused of a brutal attack, a brutal crime and they’re just let back out in the community. That undermines the community’s sense of security and safety, like why wouldn’t it?” says Adam Bello, Monroe County Executive.

“Individuals, when they perpetuate these violence incidents need to be held accountable, period. We know who the individuals are that did this, we arrested them now it’s up to the criminal justice system to do it’s job,” says Rochester City Mayor Malik Evans.

Siaca was charged with third-degree assault and was released on an appearance ticket. Police say they did not charge the minors since it does not appear they were involved.

“I’m absolutely outraged. Here we had City of Rochester employee get attacked while they’re just doing their job. And the very next morning, the person who attacks them is just let back out onto the streets and this is not justice,” County Executive Bello adds.

“It’s kind of absurd over a simple request, like, hey the park’s closed, right that ultimately leads to an altercation such as this,” Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department says.

“A security guard is someone who keeps people safe, so for them to be viciously attacked like this is totally unacceptable and the individual responsible for this should be brought to justice quickly,” adds Mayor Evans.

The security guard was treated at a local hospital for their injuries and later released.
