Young Rochester man shot and killed in apartment building hallway
ROCHESTER, NY – A 22-year-old man was pronounced dead early Friday morning following a shooting at an apartment building on 150 Van Aucker Street inside the James Dobson apartment building. Rochester Police Department received a call around 12:30 a.m., and upon arrival, found the young man in the hallway of the ninth floor. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound. This incident marks Rochester’s 17th homicide of 2023. The Police Department continues to process the scene and encourages anyone with information to call RPD’s Major Crimes Unit or CrimeStoppers. Man pleads not guilty to fatally setting woman on fire in Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. — The man accused of setting a woman on fire inside an apartment building on the city's southwest side last month pleaded not guilty Friday. Troy Parker, 53, was indicted last week on murder and arson charges following the death of Fantasia Stone, 38, April 11 in an apartment at the corner of Jefferson and Frost avenues.
Woman found dead in Garson Ave. house fire identified
Rochester police have identified the woman found dead following fire at a Garson Avenue home over the weekend. Lysandra Bagley, 37, of Rochester was found dead inside 244 Garson Ave., just east of North Goodman Street, Sunday evening, said Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department. Bagley lived at the house, which was damaged in the blaze. Firefighters were called to 244 Garson, a 2 ½-story single family home, around 7:35 p.m. Sunday.

Former Rochester Regional Health doctor acquitted of manslaughter
Rochester, N.Y. — A former Rochester Regional Health doctor accused of overprescribing a patient who fatally overdosed has been acquitted of manslaughter and other charges. Prosecutors accused Dr. Sudipt Deshmukh of prescribing mixes of opioids and other controlled substances — including overprescribing one addicted patient who died from an overdose. He was indicted by the New York State Attorney General's Office in 2021 on charges including manslaughter, reckless endangerment, criminal sale of a prescription of a controlled substance, and health care fraud.

Man Wounded in Early Morning Shooting in Rochester
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A 41-year-old man is recuperating following a shooting on the city’s west side on Tuesday. Rochester Police officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 4 a.m., finding the injured man on Masseth Street near Hague Street. The man was taken to Strong Hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. No further information has been released and no suspects have been identified at this time.
