East Central Indiana football sectional semifinal scores, updates
The IHSAA football postseason continues this week with sectional semifinals around the state. After one week of postseason action, only five of East Central Indiana's 10 football schools are left standing. The Star Press will have extended coverage of the Class 4A Sectional 20 semifinal matchup at Muncie Central between Yorktown (6-4) and the host Bearcats (7-3). Yorktown defeated Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, 35-14 , in its sectional opener last week, while Muncie Central took down Kokomo, 34-23 . The Tigers won, 24-7, when these two teams met during the second week of the regular season, but the Bearcats have made great strides since then and will have home field advantage for the rematch as they seek their first win in the Big Cat Battle since 2016. On the other side of the Sectional 20 bracket, Jay County (4-6) will host 4A No. 10 Logansport (10-0) as the Patriots look to pull off a major upset. Elsewhere in the area, Shenandoah (2-8) will also host the No. 10 team in its class as 2A No. 10 Hagerstown (10-0) comes to Middletown in Sectional 36. Meanwhile, in Class 1A Sectional 45, 1A No. 7 Wes-Del (8-0) will look to stay undefeated

Ex-Yorktown High School teacher found not guilty of battery charges
MUNCIE, IN — A former physical education teacher at Yorktown High School has been found not guilty of five battery charges. A Delaware Circuit Court 4 jury on Tuesday, Oct. 27, found 61-year-old Kevin McNamara, 61, of Pendleton, not guilty of the five charges, all Class B misdemeanors that carried maximum 180-day jail sentences. The charges against McNamara were filed in October 2025. The charges reportedly stemmed from a series of incidents during a physical education class — on that day apparently involving tennis instruction — at the high school. Court documents said only that the teacher was accused of touching the students, identified by their initials, in "a rude, insolent or angry manner." McNamara was represented in his two-day trial by attorneys Mark McKinney, Michael Leonard and Jeanne Smith. More: Guard accused of battering brothers during Muncie Mall confrontation After the case against McNamara was filed in 2025, McKinney said his client was "absolutely innocent of these charges." McNamara, who also worked as an athletic trainer, had been employed by Yorktown schools since August 2003. He resigned from his teaching position soon after the misdemeanor charges were filed.
