On April 26, Caroline County Humane Society in Ridgely participated in the National Shelter Slumber Pawty.

The Shelter Slumber Pawty is a unique and collaborative fundraising event that aims to bring together shelters from across the nation to help raise funds and awareness for shelter pets. 20 dedicated animal lovers spent the night in a kennel with one of the shelter’s pets, engaging in various activities, sleeping and partying, all while using their social media platforms to raise money for the organization.

    $37,697 was raised.

“We are delighted to announce the heartwarming outcome of one of our dogs and their fundraiser,” the shelter said in a press release. “Shelter Slumber Pawty fundraiser Linda Palmer not only raised an impressive $5,325 but also found a forever companion in her kennel mate Honey.”

During the event, Palmer forged a special bond with Honey, a dog in need of a loving home. After 24 hours together, Palmer’s heart was captivated by Honey, leading her to adopt the dog.

“Linda’s commitment to animal advocacy extends beyond this adoption,” the press release said. “She generously volunteers her time taking photos of shelter pets, increasing their chances of finding loving families.”

“… Caroline County Humane Society commends Linda for her compassion, generosity, and dedication to improving the lives of shelter animals,” the press release said. “This heartwarming story exemplifies the profound bond between humans and animals.”
