The majority of Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal School three-star 2026 offensive tackle Brady Sakowitz’s offers didn’t start pouring in until this spring, so the 6-foot-7, 285-pound high school sophomore appreciated Miami was one of the first schools to offer him roughly 10 months ago.

He was equally appreciative of the time he spent on Miami’s campus for the Hurricanes’ spring game Saturday.

Sakowitz visited Miami for the first time last Saturday for Miami’s orange and white scrimmage after receiving an in-school visit from Miami’s staff during the January contact period and expects to receive an is-school visit from Miami in the next month-and-a-half before the start of June official visits. The No. 34 offensive tackle in the On300 said he’s been able to talk to Miami’s staff “a decent bit” despite restrictions on the channels through which college coaches can contact underclassmen and is looking forward to talking to offensive line coach Alex Mirabal “way more” after he becomes an upperclassman this summer.

“(The spring game) was impressive,” Sakowitz said. “Just the way all of the guys move in unison, they’re all so technically sound. It’s not even (football) season yet, and they all just do everything so well.”

Miami, Virginia Tech, Duke, Maryland and NC State have all shown significant interest early, Sakowitz said, but he said he’s “definitely” interested in Miami and believes the Hurricanes “have been and are at the top of my list.”

“They just have something special here,” Sakowitz said. “Coach Mirabal develops offensive linemen really really well, coach (Mario) Cristobal being an offensive line guy, having a head coach that was an offensive line coach, you know they put emphasis on the offensive line and getting them developed and ready.”

Sakowitz said Miami hasn’t made him feel like he’s being traditionally recruited or made an old-school recruiting pitch to him, instead letting him gain interest in the Hurricanes himself and arrive at his own conclusion naturally. He said he feels the staff has been authentic and has made him feel like he can make his own choice.

“They just talked to me about developmental stuff,” Sakowitz said. “Just talking about O-line play in general, how to make yourself a better football player. You really get to see a more authentic side of how (Mirabal) coaches.”

CaneSport’s Take

Sakowitz has a naturally massive frame and is probably going to continue growing as an underclassman, and it’s fairly apparent schools will want to continue evaluating him over the next two years.
