Third former Penn State quarterback enters NCAA transfer portal this spring: Newsstand

We start with a look at the NCAA transfer portal. One former Penn State quarterback has left it, while another one-time Nittany Lion has entered it again, joining a different former teammate currently in the portal in the process.
Starting with the former, Christian Veilleux left Pittsburgh after spring practice this year. He exited the portal for the second time on Wednesday by committing to Georgia State. The Panthers have an open quarterback competition coming out of spring practice. As for the latter situation, Ta’Quan Roberson is on the move again. The Wayne, N.J., native left the Lions after the 2021 season for UConn. He initially won the Huskies’ starting job but suffered a season-ending injury in the opening game of the 2022 season. Roberson returned in 2023 and completed 197 of 338 passes for 2,075 yards and 12 touchdowns to six interceptions over 11 games. Now, he’s looking for his next stop.
“I will be entering my name in the Transfer Portal,” Roberson wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to Coach Mora and staff, UConn Nation and my teammates for my time here at UConn.”
Michael Johnson Jr. is the other former Nittany Lion passer in the portal. He left FAU last week.
In other news, four-time NCAA champion and standout Penn State wrestler Carter Starocci will be back for a final collegiate season in 2024-2025, he announced late Wednesday night.
